What to expect

WE KNOW THAT HEADING TO A NEW CHURCH FOR THE FIRST TIME CAN BE NERVE-RACKING. WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT YOUR FIRST EXPERIENCE AT ST LUKE'S IS A GREAT ONE.

We're an informal community so please come as you are and know you'll receive a warm welcome, whatever your beliefs or background. If you aren't sure what you think or believe, that's ok - we want St Luke's to be a place where you can explore the questions of faith in your own time.

Doors open at 10:15am and 5:45pm. On your way in, you can help yourself to a tea or coffee, and something to eat, meet some new people and then grab a seat.

Our gatherings last about 90 minutes, so we're usually finished at 12 midday and 7:30pm. In that time, our church band will lead a time of worship - all the words are displayed on the screens, so you can join in, if you'd like to. We celebrate communion at each gathering every fortnight, though there's no pressure to take part in that until you're ready.

In the morning gathering, the kids and youth go for age-specific groups. So that they're safe, we'll ask their parent/caregiver to register them on their first visit, and then check them in on subsequent occasions. Find out more about that, here.

After that, we'll share some announcements, invite guests to keep in touch by filling out a hello card, and then have a time where the regular members of the church can give financially to the work of the church. If you're a guest, just enjoy a sweet at that point!

One of our leaders will then share an encouraging message, centred around Jesus and drawing from the Bible. These are recorded and put online, if you want to listen again afterwards.

We end with singing and, if you want to, an opportunity to pray for one another. If there's anything we can pray for you about, please let one of our team know and we'd be happy to.

facilities

- There's step-free access from the pavement into church through the main gates, perfect for buggies and wheelchairs.
- At the back of church there's an accessible toilet, which also has baby changing facilities.
- Everything you need for the gathering will be displayed on the screens, so you don't need a hymn book or anything like that.
